Prior to joining KPMG in 2002, Brett worked within the FMCG sector for 3 years as an Analyst Programmer for the Spar Group where he was part of a team that implemented their Enterprise Data Warehouse solution.
He then moved to the UK in 2004 and spent 5 years working in the London office on numerous multi-jurisdictional Electronic Discovery projects and investigations for clients in the US, Africa, Eastern and Western Europe and across Asia.
London being the financial services hub of Europe gave him the opportunity to gain significant experience in this sector. He developed data models to assist in determining routing of cash transfers around the world in violation of money laundering regulations.
In 2006 he took up the role of Head of Forensic Technology for Central and Eastern Europe where he serviced clients across the region and was responsible for his service line in 16 countries.
He is currently responsible for the Forensic Technology service line in KwaZulu-Natal and has successfully lead cybercrime investigations in South Africa and up into Africa.
He has written articles for international online publications as well as local news on topics such as Electronic Disclosure and Cybercrime.
